When I married over 40 years ago and was given a Pettet family bible dated 1754 full of names, combined with my husband’s desire to pass on his middle name of “Clayton” which appeared in the Bible, I began to travel down the fascinating and intriguing route of Family History. I have been successful in tracing my husband’s Pettet/it ancestors back to 1550 in Kent and my own West Country lines are fast approaching that.
I was fortunate to work part-time for a few years in the Hampshire Record Office where I gained an excellent working knowledge of documents available to family historians. I am also Chairperson of The East Dorset branch of the Somerset & Dorset Family History Society, a member of both Devon and Dorset Family History Societies, together with being an Associate of AGRA (Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives) a professional organisation promoting high standards in the field of genealogy.
I would be happy to assist anyone by tracing their ancestors or just helping to overcome an obstacle. I enjoy challenges and am always delighted for clients when I can trace their “missing” ancestors.
I live in Poole, Dorset so can easily reach Dorset or Hampshire Record Office. I also have access to many Kent records together with links to Somerset and access to various Family History websites, so can cover a large area.
My charge is £20 per hour plus any additional expenses incurred and I look forward to hearing how I can assist you in your research.
