Do you need an experienced researcher who knows the historic records for Plymouth and South-west Devon inside out? This will not only save time, but it will also save you money. And if I know the records no longer survive or are held elsewhere, I will tell you straight away.
With over 22 years’ experience at the Plymouth & West Devon Record Office (soon to be part of The Box), I have a wealth of knowledge about the sources and information contained within them. I am also fully conversant with the online catalogue and how to get the best out of it. I have lived in the area for nearly 50 years, so also have an excellent knowledge of Plymouth and its hinterlands. I also have knowledge and access to the Devon Naval Heritage Archive and the Devon Rural Archive, as well as local libraries.
Whether you need some basic family history research done on your behalf or deeper more complicated research into buildings, people or subjects, then do get in contact. I am also happy to photograph documents or locations on your behalf, subject to UK copyright regulations and GDPR. Document transcription service also available.
I am a qualified archivist and my professional qualifications include PG Cert Local and Family History, and PG Dip Archives and Records Management. I am a member of the Devon Family History Society, Devon History Society, Plym Valley Heritage Group, Old Plymouth Society and British Records Association.
