Following a long period as an enthusiast of family history I successfully completed my Higher National Certificate in Genealogy with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS) of Canterbury, qualifying as a Professional Genealogist in 2009. I pride myself in providing a reliable, high quality and friendly research service at competitive rates.
I offer a wide range of genealogical services, including searches of parish registers i.e. baptisms, marriages and burials; searches of General Record Office indexes and obtaining certificates; searches of church records; census returns; obtaining copies of wills; searching local newspapers and directories; tithe maps and referral to land and property title deeds.
In addition to the above, I also offer a digital photography service; plus regardless of a documents age, I can provide transcripts and abstracts of wills, deeds, family records or court proceedings, but all are subject to local record office copyright regulations.
Although my research is essentially for those with Devon ancestors I can sometimes assist with extended research into neighbouring counties, i.e. Cornwall, Somerset etc. I also can offer assistance and guidance to those family historians, who may have only just started their research or have struggled to progress to earlier periods prior to civil registration (1837) and census returns (1841).
My rates start from £14.50 per hour at Plymouth and West Devon Record Office, subject to a minimum charge of one hour, but vary for other locations in Devon. All of my rates are inclusive of travel costs, and I do not charge for travelling time. For guidance and assistance to those wishing to conduct their own research I charge £12.50 per hour.
Extra costs may result from the purchasing of certificates, photocopies and photography permits but these are charged at minimal cost.
I can accept payment by personal or bank issued cheques, postal orders and PayPal.com
